FAQ

What is microblading?

Microblading, also known as Eyebrow Embroidery, is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup. However, unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts 1.5 - 2 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine.  This service is NOT recommended for mature or thin skin. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each 'hair' is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow hair. It is great for those who want to enhance their brows color and shape. And to add density and fullness to thinning, over tweezed and over waxed brows.

I'm nervous about the pain... will it hurt?

I will use a topical anesthetic before and during the procedure to maximize your comfort. Most clients experience little discomfort both during and after their service. However, each individuals pain tolerance varies. As my own mentor/microblade artist advised me... "It's still a face tattoo, you're going to earn it". πŸ™‚ I find that most clients are able to relax and enjoy their service.

How do you decide on my brow shape?

I will map out your brow shape directly onto your face before the procedure using different tools (such as special rulers, thread, wax pencils, surgical marker...) Only the hair that sits outside this shape will be removed from the brow area. Together we will decide on your ideal shape and pigment color that is most flattering to your face. However, please be aware that as an artist I will NOT tattoo a brow shape that I am not comfortable with. We must work together to create this brow magic!

How long does it take to tattoo my brows?

Expect to spend 2.5 - 4 hours at your initial session. This gives us plenty of time to go over paperwork, mapping out your shape, creating your beautiful new brows and going over after-care in detail. The second session should take anywhere from 1-2 hours as we are just perfecting the shape and making minor adjustments.

What should I expect immediately after the service?

Please be careful driving after your service... it's easy to be distracted by your beautiful new brows in your rearview mirror..   πŸ™‚

The treated area may be slightly red and tender. This is completely normal. Remember... you just got a face tattoo! DO NOT TOUCH THEM! Infections can absolutely happen during the healing process because of improper care. Follow your after-care instructions to help you minimize any risk of infection.

Your brows will appear darker the day after your service. This is because the pigment is oxidizing. Around days 5-10 your brows may begin to get flakey and peel. This is because your skin is exfoliating and trying to heal itself. DO NOT PICK/SCRATCH/ITCH/OR PULL at the skin. This can cause the strokes to not heal properly. It is common for the brow area to feel itchy as it's healing. You can tap/pat your skin with a clean hand or a tissue. This will help to relieve that feeling. Please practice patience and let your brows naturally heal. During this time, the strokes may become muted and lighter while the epidermis is healing. Over the next 4-6 weeks, your skin will get back to normal and you will be able to enjoy your brows again.

***Again, following the after-care instructions is a crucial part of this process. Most artists agree that it's 50% my job and 50% your job to ensure your brows stay looking fab!***

How will my brows look when they’re healed?

There are many factors that can affect your final healed results. Such as natural brow shape, skin type, skin tone, thickness of skin, color of pigment used, lifestyle, medications, bleeding during the service, properly following after-care and more. Results vary and your complimentary touch up appointment is absolutely vital to making sure your brows are living at their highest potential πŸ™‚ Your brows should appear natural and soft. Healed results and immediate results are very different. It is important that as a client you understand the stages of your microbladed brows.

How often will I need to get my brows done?

The initial service and touch up perfecting session are necessary for most brows. During the first service, we are building the skeleton of the brow and adding a first layer of pigment. Six to eight weeks later at the touch up session, we can add more density, darken pigment if needed and complete the look. Most clients enjoy their brows for 1.5 - 2 years.
